So, What’s An Author Journal Entry Anyway?

A lot of smart people will tell you about the benefits of journaling and they’re right. Getting your thoughts out of your head and scribing them on some sort of medium is both therapeutic and revealing.

So, consider these posts to be my version of therapeutic journaling, except that I am sharing these thoughts and feelings with you, dear reader, so that we can get to know each other a little better.

If this type of behind-the-scenes lifestyle blogging isn’t your cup of tea, I completely understand. I will also be publishing book reviews, book recommendation listicles, and other more entertaining content that I think you would enjoy.

Please feel free to skip around and peruse the content that appeals to you.

After all, you are the reason for everything that I do!

Jumping Hurdles

Yesterday was a hell of a day. The day before that too!

For the past year and a half, I have been driving for Doordash and Uber Eats in order to provide for my family while enabling my wife to become a full-time stay-at-home mom.

Previously she had been a training store manager for Sally Beauty where she was regularly expected to do the work of three or more people without the accompanying pay.

Since quitting her job, my wife has begun to heal from her childhood traumas and the corporate burnout she has endured.

Watching her find peace every day fills me with so much pride and joy that I would walk barefoot on hot coals to ensure that nothing interrupts her journey.

So I found a way to balance our financials and earn enough through a type of job that works for me and my AuDHD (Autism & ADHD) brain to keep us stable.

The only problem is that for the past two days, I haven’t been able to get the Doordash app to work properly.

After numerous calls with tech support and hours of troubleshooting, it turns out that the problem has to do with satellite interference.

Apparently, there is some sort of data interruption occurring with certain Verizon satellites, which is making apps on my phone misbehave.

This, dear reader, is what I like to call a hurdle.

When life throws you a problem in the middle of your marathon race, you have to learn to jump the hurdle and regain your footing on the other side.

That is what I am currently doing this morning and honestly, at this point, I’m beginning to feel like an Olympian with how many hurdles I’ve been having to jump lately.

But, like all of the hurdles that have come before, I will overcome this one and regain my footing once more.

Then it’s smooth sailing until the next one.

There’s always a next one. That’s life.

Might I suggest we hit the pause button on our race and stretch a little if we haven’t already?
